became a docent at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. This involvement grew into active participation in the Modern Art Council, the successor to the original group of women who founded the San Francisco Museum of Art (later renamed SFMOMA in 1975). Jill went on to serve as President of the Modern Art Council and held a position as an ex-officio member of the museum’s board. She remains actively involved with SFMOMA through its affiliated fundraising and support organizations.

In addition to her contributions to the arts, Jill has been deeply committed to healthcare philanthropy. She has served on the Foundation Boards of Children’s Hospital of San Francisco and California Pacific Medical Center, where she played a significant role in fundraising efforts.

Jill has long been passionate about the recognition and advancement of women in the arts, making her membership in the National Museum of Women in the Arts a natural extension of her lifelong interests and values. She is particularly drawn to pioneering artists such as Barbara Hepworth, Louise Nevelson, Joan Brown, Louise Bourgeois, and Lee Krasner—women whose contributions are now receiving the recognition they deserve after years of being overshadowed by their male contemporaries. She also admires contemporary artists including Marilyn Minter, Hung Liu, Annie Leibovitz, Yayoi Kusama, and Amy Sherald.

Her personal creative journey has come full circle in recent years. Eleven years ago, Jill returned to formal study to pursue fashion design, including training in pattern making and couture-level sewing. She now creates art-inspired fashion, drawing from both historical and contemporary artists, and blending her appreciation for visual art with her passion for design.

Beyond her visual and wearable art pursuits, Jill has maintained lifelong interests in tap dancing and ikebana (Japanese flower arranging), both of which she has studied extensively. These disciplines continue to inform her sense of rhythm, structure, and aesthetic balance.

Jill values the community she has found through the National Museum of Women in the Arts, describing her fellow members as exceptionally bright, accomplished, creative, and engaging. Her ongoing involvement reflects a deep commitment to supporting women artists and fostering meaningful connections within the arts community.
